Level 3 Award in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment from EAL (600\/4340\/4)\/ C&G (2377) commonly referred to as PAT Testing gives learners an understanding of the theory and practice of the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. This qualification is for those who wish to carry out formal visual inspections, and inspections and tests of electrical equipment or electricians who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills and those who wish to pursue a career in the electrotechnical \/ building services sector.<\/p>\n
Course Content<\/p>\n
This is a 1-day classroom-based course that covers the skills and knowledge required to carry out the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. This Award has one unit which covers: statutory and non-statutory requirements, electrical units, equipment construction, inspection and testing theory, practical inspection and testing of equipment and completion of documentation. 2. Regulation\u2019s role and responsibilities<\/p>\n
3. Insulation and earthing<\/p>\n
4. Classification of appliances<\/p>\n
5. Preliminary inspection, test precautions<\/p>\n
6. Using a Portable Appliance Tester<\/p>\n
7. Essential tests<\/p>\n
8. Optional tests<\/p>\n
9. Labelling tests<\/p>\n
10. Reporting and recording results<\/p>\n
11. Implementing a test programme<\/p>\n
12. Practical Assessment<\/p>\n
Followed by numerous practice questions to boost confidence and get the students to familiarise themselves with the exam methodology.<\/p>\n

Online Open-book multiple-choice exam: 50 Questions – 100 Minutes Duration, min. Pass marks set to approximately 80%.

Task 3 Complete appropriate documentation.
